The EFFEXON

This flexible Analog Multi Effect Processor
offers various sound effects such as Ringmodulator, Dual Parametric Equalizer and
Overdrive, all combined in the compact design of Technosaurus Small Monster series at an
affordable price. The EFFEXON is a very useful addition to all electronic instruments like
guitars, keyboards and organs as well as any other elelectronic sound source such as
CD-players, turntables or mixers. The EFFEXON is also an ideal complement to all the other
Small Monsters from Technosaurus - so why not build your own analog modular table top
system!
TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS AND
FUNCTIONS:
INPUT GAIN:
- Adjusts the level of the connected sound source to get the best signal to noise
ratio
- Attenuation to zero and gain up to +20dB make it possible to perfectly adapt almost
every signal
RINGMODULATOR:
- MIXER knob to continuously mix the DRY signal with the EFFECT signal
(Ringmodulator signal)
- SOURCE switch to choose the modulation source for the Ringmodulator. In position EXT, an
external
source applied acts as modulator, in position VCO, the internal VCO is used
as modulation source
VCO - MODULATOR:
Acts either as a pure VCO to use with for eg. the MICROCON or as modulation
source for the Ringmodulator
- The FREQUENCY knob determines the pitch of the VCO. It can act also as tuning knob when
using with other synthesizers
- The RANGE switch offers the choice between LOW and HIGH frequencies
- The WAVES switch determines the waveform of the VCO. Square and triangle waves are
possible
PARAMETRIC EQUALIZER 1 & 2:
- FREQUENCY knobs : Adjust the desired center frequency here
- WIDTH / Q knobs : Adjust the desired bandwith from Q = 0.5 to Q = 5. Also known as
RESONNANCE.
- CUT / BOOST knobs : Adjust the desired attenuation or gain of the frequencies around the
center frequency
OVERDRIVE:
The overdrive section is connected in series between Parametric EQ 1 and
Parametric EQ 2.
This allows excellent processing of the signal before and after the overdrive.
- DRIVE knob allows to mix the DRY signal with the EFF signal (overdrive signal)
- Two overdrive modes, SOFT and HARD can be selected with an external switch connected to
the overdrive control jack
- The overdrive is VOLTAGE CONTROLLABLE with any voltage source connected to the OD CV
jack
OUTPUT:
- LEVEL knob to match the output level to the following stage (mixer, amplifire
etc.)
CLIP INDICATOR:
This red CLIP LED indicates clipping of the processed signal after EQ 1 and
before the overdrive section
POWER INDICATOR:
The light of this green POWER LED confirms that the proper power supply is
connected and that the unit is functioning correctly
CONNECTIONS/INPUTS AND
OUTPUTS:
All connectors are placed on the right side
panel of the unit.
AUDIO / MOD:
This is a 1/4" jack stereo input
- AUDIO input (TIP) to connect the sound source to be processed
- MOD input (RING) to connect an external modulation source for the Ringmodulator
AUDIO / VCO:
This is a 1/4" jack stereo output
- AUDIO output (TIP) of the processed signal
- VCO output (RING) to use as sound source for eg in connection with the MICROCON
CV VCO / CV OD:
This is a 1/8" jack stereo input
- CV VCO input (TIP) to control the internal VCO with a Control Voltage (CV)
- CV OD input (RING) to control the amount of overdrive with a Control Voltage (CV)
BYPASS / H/S OD (not shown on picture):
This is a 1/8" jack stereo input
- BYPASS input (TIP) to switch the overdrive section on and off
- H/S OD input (RING) to switch the overdrive from Hard to Soft
12V DC:
This is the power plug to connect an external power supply.
The power supply should have the following specifications:
- Output voltage: 12 volts DC
- Output current: at least 100mA
- Connector: standardized 2.1mm plug, center pin = positive
