One of the best songs from Elegant Machinery's last non-compilation album, "Yesterday Man", "Fading Away" was the lone single for this A Different Drum release. It features a radio edit, ballad mix and instrumental version, all by the band, 2 b-sides, and a Atomix Sound remix by Jared Tolman.

Of the 2 B-sides, both were to later re-appear on the Decade Of Thoughts in re-worked versions. The original version of Yesterday Man here is instrumental, which is neat to hear and compare to the later version with vocals.

I really enjoyed the Piano Ballad mix of the track, it's a nice, more laid-back version of the track, with some really beautiful piano work. I really like it! Jared Tolman's mix of the track takes it into EBM territory, with hard-hitting percussion and sharp synth lines added into the track. It's a fun track, but I really think it leaves behind some of the special feeling of the original track.

Overall, this is a really good single. And when ADD is offering copies for $.99 on Ebay, how can you resist picking this up? I know I couldn't...
