This is the early 1992 debut album for the legendary (in some circles) Swedish synthpop band Elegant Machinery,
released on the then-just formed Energy Records label. The band is now gone, but the music lives on.. if you can
find a copy. I believe this debut album might be out of print.
The first thing you'll notice on listening to this cd is the sound quality and production level isn't nearly as
smooth and clear as what EM would achieve during their 10 year history. That's to be expected in a debut album, but
I thought I would make sure you're aware of it.
I was quite surprised on hearing this. I only became aware of Elegant Machinery at the end of their career, and
so to hear some songs I had only heard on the best of in a re-done form in their original versions was quite surprising.
Particularly surprising was "Black Town".. this was one of my favorites from "A Decade Of Thoughts", and to hear it in
this much earlier version was quite strange. But the original version of "A Little Sacrifice" was quite cool.. more
aggressive than the version on "A Decade", but I really like this approach to the song.
Fans of early Erasure and early Anything Box should really enjoy this disc. It's a little on the lo-fi side, but
still has some great songs...
